In today’s connected world, the ability to obtain gainful employment is not limited to a person’s geographical location. We aim to arm young university graduates with the skills to gain remote work globally within tech and other industries. This will be based on market research in potential employer countries to ensure we are providing people with skills that meet market needs.
Gaza Transcending Borders
Ajyal Foundation for Education is seeking to counter unemployment in the Gaza Strip by providing it with competent and skilled labour power that can overcome the limitations imposed by the Israeli blockade. The Gaza TranscendsBorders project wishes to do so by providing high school and university graduates with quality education and training for professions in the IT sector. These professions aren’t limited to local employment options, they can transcend the blockaded borders of the Strip and open doors to worldwide employment opportunities.
The Gaza Transcends Borders project will focus on building and enhancing graduates’ capacities in IT related professions, providing them with technically attractive and competitive skills in IT to help them compete for jobs within the regional and global markets and help facilitate the transition from education to employment. To enhance employability, the training will be tailored to meet the needs and demands of specific markets.
To achieve this Ajyal teams up with a local start-up accelerator and full-stack coding academy to help provide the training. The boot camp will benefit 10 participants and will provide them with an intensive five-days a week training for 6 months. Specifically, the project will focus on upskilling youth from refugee camps and will particularly encourage and facilitate the enrolment of female participants, aiming to have a 50% ratio of female participants.
Parallel to the training, Ajyal will utilise its strategic presence in the UK to work towards building networks with potential employers in Europe, North America and the Middle East to help facilitate the employment of graduates of the bootcamp.
